John Abbott - A brief Bio
Yep, that's me on the
right, and I took that photo in the studio space in my apartment. I first picked up a camera in 1984. I quickly became proficient at shooting people. In 1992, I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Art from Columbia College in Chicago. I specialized in lighting, and I made a point of it to find out every techinical trick I could learn. I started making a living off of photography in 1993, first as a stringer for a suburban paper and then as a product photographer. I got the shot that I wanted, whether it was Bill Clinton or an expensive piece of furniture on a floor that was ridiculously beautiful and ornate. Ironically, it wasn't until years later that I went back to my first love; photographing people. I still consider it a great gift when someone trusts me to take their photo.
